For responsible water use: Every drop conts!
7 月 25,2024 by admin

Water is a vital resource for the survival of all living beings on our planet, but we often forget that it is limited. In recent years, and this year in particular, we have seen how temperatures continue to increase and drought in crop fields is increasing, while rain is scarce or appears suddenly and torrentially, with the consequent floods. Climate change is a reality that cannot be denied, and that is why, at Grifería Clever, we promote the  responsible use of water .  If you want to know how to become aware and what you can do to reduce your consumption, this article is for you.

Drought and climate change: a growing threat

As with any topic, there are those who are concerned about climate change, while others deny its existence or attribute it to natural changes on the planet.

Whatever the reason , what is certain, and what we can confirm by looking around us, is that  it is affecting us and will continue to do so in an increasing way if appropriate measures are not taken . Rising temperatures and  drought make agriculture impossible and many species, including our own, are affected  by it. But they are also responsible for the fact that rainfall becomes scarce, but torrential. And if that were not enough, all these variations also have an impact on the oceans, whose changes, in turn, affect what happens outside them.

The actions with the greatest impact are not at an individual level, since it is the large companies, and  some sectors in particular, that do the most damage to the environment . Specifically,  fashion, transport, consumption of food of animal origin, energy and construction.

However,  we cannot leave everything in the hands of others . If every person on this side of the world were to commit to making responsible use of water, the impact would also be visible. In addition, action and example are the most effective ways for other people to join in the change.

How to use water responsibly at home?

Turn off the tap when not using water

You may never have noticed it because you have become so used to this habit. But, while you are washing your face or brushing your teeth, do you leave the tap on or off?  While the water is running, the amount of water consumed increases in a matter of seconds  and it is a total and utter waste, since running water has no practical purpose.

So, if you want to start using water responsibly, it’s time to pay attention to how you manage it. Turn off the taps when you don’t have your hands or body under water, and if you want to go one step further,  collect cold water in a bucket while you wait for it to come out hot . You can also  collect rainwater , perfect for watering indoor plants.

Thermostatic taps

A second way to reduce consumption is to install  thermostatic taps . These allow you  to set a specific temperature in advance.  This way, you won’t have to wait and watch the water run or fiddle with the handle or taps to get the desired temperature. They also allow you to regulate the flow rate.

Water is a vital resource for the survival of all living beings on our planet, but we often forget that it is limited. Cold opening taps

Another faucet system that is effective for responsible water use is the one that has a cold opening. That is,  the default position of the opening handle is neutral and does not activate hot water , as is usually the case with most faucets. Not only is water consumption reduced by adjusting the temperature, but also energy because the water does not have to be heated.

Install water saving aerators

Aerators are a small piece similar to a grid that is installed on the taps, right at the water outlet. What they do is  mix the water that comes out of the tap with air,  so that the water flow is reduced, but  without compromising the pressure or the feeling of comfort in use . In other words, you will be saving up to 50% on your water consumption, but without realizing it.

Faucet with two-position opening

Another suggestion that we can make at home is to opt for faucets with two-position openings. This allows for  better control of the water flow, as the position  of the faucet can be manually adjusted according to the needs at hand. Thus, for everyday activities such as washing hands or brushing teeth, you would choose the one with a lower flow, and when you need to fill a container or wash an item of clothing, you would opt for the more intense flow.

If you want to implement these actions at home, you only have to go through the  www.lankko.com  and choose the designs that best suit your needs. And if you want more information about the technologies we use to reduce water consumption, take a look at our  Eco Faucet systems .
